I thrifted a Michael Kors dress but it was giving grandma vibes – I transformed it but everyone’s saying the same thing
A THRIFTY fashionista has not received the best feedback after transforming a ”grandma” dress that she had nabbed in a charity shop.
A growing number of people are buying second-hand clothes and upcycling them to give the garments a new life – and one of those is TikTok user Yolanda, from Mexico.
The crafty fashion fan regularly shares her favourite finds and how she has decided to revamp them – and one of her latest buys, a designer dress, did not escape the creative touch either.
According to Yolanda, she had got her hands on a Micheal Kors frock – but the black dress with blue floral print was giving ”grandma” vibes.
The long sleeve midi number was ill-fitting and too big for her body, so Yolanda came up with a vision and a plan to turn it into a cute mini summer frock.
After some sketching and designing, the DIY enthusiast set off to work, posting the process on TikTok.
The lengthy at-home transformation was shared in three videos, with Yolanda explaining the ins and outs in great detail.
As fans on the platform eagerly waited for the reveal, Yolanda was finally ready to upload the long-welcome outcome.
”I am so obsessed,” the thrifty style lover was over the moon with how it looked.
The once loose garment was hugging her figure and Yoanda had opted to turn it into an off-the shoulder dress.
The mini dress now also had shorter sleeves and a frill detailing – but the sleeves weren’t the only feature that was short.
Dozens of people flocked to comments, where many agreed on one thing – the back side of the dress was too short, in their eyes.

One mortified viewer wrote: ”The back length it’s definitely a problem.”
Someone else added: ”The back is way too short ! But u did an amazing job [sic].”
”It’s good. Just wished you wouldn’t have cut so much fabric off. A tiny bit longer would have made it perfect,” another penned.
A fourth joked: ”gorgeous look but you have a lot of faith in the wind not blowing that back up.”
Luckily, it was all negative feedback, as others loved the dress so much they were even keen to buy it.
”Omg are you selling this,” a fan wanted to know.
”Wow that’s amazing!!” a fellow style fanatic penned.
