4 Pakistani Security Personnel Killed After Attack on Balochistan Checkpost
Three Pakistani Security personnel and a Frontier Constabulary (FC) were killed. At the same time, a terrorist was eliminated on Sunday after police Check posts in the Dhana Sar area of Balochistan’s Sherani sub-district came under attack, according to a media outlets report.
Sherani Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bilal Shabbir confirmed the fatalities and added that the security personnel and militants continued the exchange of fire for almost two hours, local media reported.
Meanwhile, he also said that one member of the FC was injured, one terrorist was killed, and two others were wounded during the exchange of gunfire.
The Balochistan Chief Minister, Abdul Quddus Bizento, expressed sorrow over the officers’ deaths and said, “The chief minister expressed sorrow and regret at the martyrdom of three police officers and an FC soldier in the terrorist incident.”
In addition to praising security forces for killing one militant in the retaliatory fire, Bizenjo added that militant attacks could not demoralize the armed forces with “cowardly” strikes.
“The nation stands with its security forces to foil the nefarious designs of anti-state elements,” he added.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province in terms of land area, has been the scene of a decades-long conflict by separatists calling for the country to secede, blaming what they claim is the state’s monopoly and exploitation of the territory’s mineral wealth.
Since last year, when a tenuous cease-fire between the Pakistani Taliban and the government collapsed in November 2022, militants supporting the Baloch separatist movement have launched attacks on Pakistan’s security forces.
Pakistan has frequently accused India of supporting and arming Baloch militants, a claim New Delhi has consistently rejected.
