Hinchers come to rescue with unlikely £2 ‘witchcraft’ hack to remove scratches from wooden floors
Mrs Hinch fans have come to the rescue of a woman who was left baffled on how to get scratch marks off her wooden floors.
Explaining that she has no idea how the scratches got there to begin with, she asked cleaning fans for any solutions they could provide for her situation.
She shared a photo of her floors to provide extra context, where viewers could see a dozen scratch marks isolated to one specific area.
“Any ideas on how to get scratches out of a wooden kitchen worktop?” she wrote in the caption.
“I have zero idea how this has happened!”
Luckily, Mrs Hinch fans were quick to comment on the post and many suggested she use a walnut to fix it.
One person wrote: “Possibly a bag been dragged over it with a big of grit. It happens! You could try the walnut rub, just use a walnut over the scratches.
“But personally, I’d very lightly sand and then reoil, you should do this anyway every year so…”
The woman replied: “Thank you! We rent otherwise would properly do it – it’s in desperate need of oiling and sanding as it’s very dull and shows every mark. Will try the walnut!”
Another person said: “I’d try the walnut too,” as a third shared: “yes walnut is amazing for any scratch, Danish oil is food safe and will make your wooden worktops look good again..”
A fourth person said: “Try rubbing a walnut on it”.
And a fifth added: “It’s the oil from it and yes it is like magic”.
Walnuts can be bought for as little as £2 from your local Tesco, making it a cheap solution to an otherwise big problem.
Taking on the advice, the woman rubbed a walnut over the scratch marks and returned to the Facebook group Hinch Army Cleaning Tips to share how it went.
“Walnut update. What is this witchcraft?! It has WORKED!!!!!” she wrote.
She then posted a photo of the results, where the scratch marks were completely gone.
