The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Monday 3rd June) Takeover delay has nothing to do with EFL
Good Morning. It's Monday 3rd July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road
Takeover delay has nothing to do with EFL
Football finance guru Kieran Maguire has stated that the delay regarding the Leeds Utd takeover has nothing to do with the EFL, and lays blame firmly at the feet or either Andrea Radrizzani or 49ers Enterprises.
According to Maguire, if both parties are singing from the same hymn sheet, there is no reason why a buyout cannot take place in a matter of days, let alone weeks or months, and highlights the sales of Wigan Athletic and Huddersfield Town as examples.
This puts a completely different spin on proceedings. Most fans were quick to point the finger at the EFL, whereas there are issues, a lot closer to home! It shouldn't be that complicated. The Americans want to buy Radrizzani's remaining 56% shares, and have agreed on a price of £170m.
Perhaps the 49ers aren't happy with the clauses in players contracts allowing them to go out on loan, if the club is relegated? Maybe there's a legal wrangle regarding Elland Road, or could the Americans be getting cold feet?
The delays in terms of the Leeds United takeover are not being caused by the EFL. We’ve seen in other deals such as in the sale of Wigan and Huddersfield Town that if all parties are in alignment a deal can go through in a matter of days rather than weeks or months.
Therefore, it would seem that the slow progress is caused by either the buying or selling party in the takeover. It has consequences on an operational level in terms of the club’s ability to recruit both in the backroom staff and the players on the pitch. The quicker this deal is resolved the better.
Why can't Farke start straight away?
Whilst the first crop of players arrive at Leeds Beckett University to undergo several days of rigorous pre-season health and medical screenings, there's still no sign of Daniel Farke. With betting suspended, and having already having had the guided tour of the Leeds training ground (Thorp Arch), the 46yo is believed to be itching to get to work with his players!
As things stand, Radrizzani is still the Leeds Utd owner, and any deal needs to be signed off by him, before signing. That shouldn't stop Farke from getting to work straight away unpaid, if the role means that much to him.
The Championship season kicks off in four weeks, and whilst Rads and Marathe continue to fight, Leeds chances of promotion back to the top-flight dwindle by the day. According to an article on Leeds-live this morning...
Leeds United have placed everything on hold until 49ers Enterprises' takeover of the club goes through. As things stand Andrea Radrizzani still holds the controlling stake in Leeds, and so signs off on any deals.
Bundesliga pair want Rutter on loan
German media outlet 'Bild' claim both Freiburg and former club Hoffenheim are interested in taking Georginio Rutter on loan next season. The 21yo had a wretched start to his Elland Road career following his record £36m move in January. In 11 appearances (mostly as substitute), he earnt a 'Whoscored' rating of just 6.25, and a success pass rate of just 50%, lower than any other player at the club (apart from Mateo Joseph who only played 24 minutes).
Is Rutter ready for the Championship, or does he need to go out on loan?
