I gave my dull council house kitchen an epic makeover with a £10 buy from Wilko & people can’t believe how good it looks
A WOMAN has revealed she gave her dull council house kitchen an epic makeover on the cheap and people can’t believe how good it looks.
The savvy woman explained that she used cheap buys from Wilko, including paint which cost her just £10, to give her 1940s council house kitchen a brand new look.
The DIY fan took to social media to show off the before and after transformation, leaving many open-mouthed.
Posting on TikTok under the username @diyatnumber40, in a recent clip which was shared with the caption ‘Before and after’, the DIY whizz showed off her kitchen prior to any work, followed by a video of her finished kitchen.
Before the overhaul, the kitchen was very dull and tired.
It was plain and lacked life and personality, so the DIY fan got to work.
To give the space a much-needed overhaul, the TikToker used a £10 bargain buy from Wilko.
The social media user explained that she used the Wilko cupboard paint in sage green, costing her only £10.
Prior to painting, she noted: “I lightly sanded if they had any marks on them and cleaned them thoroughly with sugar scrub.”
She also revealed that she took the cupboard doors off first and painted them, to ensure they had a neat, even finish.
Not only was the cupboard paint from Wilko, but she also explained that she got ‘peel and stick vinyl’ from Wilko for the counters too.
She also laid a new vinyl flooring too, which she confirmed she bought from Online Carpets.
As well as this, she gave the tiles a fresh new feel too, with a multi-surface white gloss paint.
She also confirmed that she spray painted the handles, rather than forking out for brand new ones.
The savvy woman later shared: “It was very hard work but we did enjoy it!”
The woman’s clip has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 75,700 views.
It has 2,807 likes, 164 comments, 150 saves and 43 shares.
Social media users were left stunned at the mega transformation and many were eager to express this in the comments.
One person said: “Beautiful.”
Another added: “Looks very smart and fresh.”
A third commented: “Fantastic job, well done!!!”
Whilst someone else noted: “What a difference!! Well done.”
When asked: “Is it bought or rented? Cause mine is rented and they’ve told me to not paint the cupboards or wrap the sides” the woman explained “It’s rented, ours are fine with it.
“I think everywhere is different for some reason.”
