My neighbours are finally moving out but when I came home & saw what they had done to our fence I was mortified
A RESIDENT has shared their horror after one of their neighbours had taken down the shared fence before moving out.
You either get lucky with your neighbours or constantly have an issue with them – and it seems that the Reddit user @MerelYael falls into the latter category.
According to the person, believed to be from the US, their neighbours toom drastic action after the local resident had gone out for the day.
Upon returning home, the Redditor noticed there had been a massive change in their garden, as the fence had been ripped off and removed.
The resident, who shared the story on Reddit, added: ”It was clear they used our garden furniture and their dog-leash was tied to something in our backyard.
”They took a big wooden pole (that can be used for sunshade) and it’s nowhere to be seen.
”If they would have asked (my roommate was home) if they could use our backyard, that would have been okay, but I strongly dislike trespassing,” the post revealed.
According to the author behind the now-viral post, when asked what they had done with the post, they didn’t give much of an explanation.
To make matters worse, the resident also felt like the neighbours wouldn’t be replacing the area with a new fence either.
This, in turn, has caused quite the frustration for the Reddit user who now felt as if even more people can peep in their garden.
” Without the fence I’ve a lot leas privacy in the backyard, 3 more apartments can look at me in my backyard [sic].”
Giving a bit more background on the situation, the person explained that the house was rented from a social housing corporation – and that’s whom the fence belonged to.

The post soon racked up thousands of responses, with people sharing their take on the neighbour row.
One whizz said: ”Retired Registered Land Surveyor from Kansas here. Our fence law states that if the fence was built on the common property line, it belongs to both parties no matter who paid for it.
”It cannot be removed by either party without notification and agreement of the other party.”
Another wrote: ”This is why I’m getting concrete fences. They’re gonna need to rent a backhoe if they’re pulling that s**t.”
Someone else guessed: ”Did they get evicted/foreclosed? This is common when people get evicted or foreclosed they will do this to piss off the landlord or whoever is taking over the property.
”My neighbor recently got evicted and he did the same thing, luckily didn’t take our fence lol but he basically gutted the whole house before leaving.
”Took sinks, light fixtures, outlet covers etc. literally everything.
