Report: Spurs player may return to pre-season early to make a good impression
Destiny Udogie could be set to return to Tottenham Hotspur training earlier than expected this summer so that he can join the club’s pre-season tour and make a good impression on his new manager.
The youngster was signed last summer from Udinese, but was loaned straight back to the Italian side for the 2022/23 campaign.
He scored three goals and added four assists in 33 Serie A games last term (Transfermarkt).
Udogie is now expected to stay with Tottenham for the forthcoming season, and there are high hopes for the attacking full-back and how he can fit into Ange Postecoglou‘s system.
The Spurs starlet has been involved with the Italy Under-21s for the recent European Championships but is now eyeing his return to North London.
Destiny Udogie could return to Spurs training early
According to a report from Football.London, Udogie was originally set to have a 21-day break after his last international game, which was on the 28th June. But, he may now cut short his break.
Udogie would be due at training mid-tour, meaning he would only have a possibility of playing the second game of the schedule, against Leicester City.
His Italy side are now out of the tournament after failing to qualify from the group stages.
The report claims Udogie “could return early,” with July 12 mooted as a potential date the 20-year-old may be back.
It is believed Udogie wants to “make sure he is on the tour as he looks to make a quick impression on Postecoglou.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Destiny Udogie could be one of the most exciting additions to our squad this year and I cannot wait to see him in action.
With Postecoglou’s emphasis on quick, free-flowing, attacking football, Udogie could be a very potent threat from the left side and will provide a great balance to Pedro Porro on the right.
