Club president believes he will ‘reach an agreement’ to sell player to Spurs
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been discussing the club’s transfer plans for the summer, and claimed an agreement with Tottenham for Clement Lenglet is likely.
Lenglet spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Tottenham Hotspur and was a solid presence in a faltering back line for the Lilywhites.
The Frenchman made 35 appearances for Spurs last term (Transfermarkt).

Since returning to Barcelona upon the conclusion of his loan deal, the future has been rather unclear for Lenglet.
A report from sport.es last month stated that the Catalan club needed to sell Lenglet before June 30 as part of a financial promise they made to La Liga last summer.
The move didn’t materialise before that deadline, and Fabrizio Romano even revealed Spurs were no longer prioritising a deal for Lenglet.
However, a more recent report from sport.es claimed the North London club had already agreed personal terms with the 27-year-old ahead of the proposed transfer.
Joan Laporta says Lenglet deal should happen
Now the latest update comes direct from Joan Laporta, as the Barcelona president tells La Vanguardia that he is hopeful an agreement can be achieved with Spurs.
Laporta said: “I think we’ll reach an agreement with Tottenham for Lenglet.”
The publication adds that, with Barcelona having an “urgent need to reduce the salary mass,” Lenglet is a player who is more than likely heading for an “exit” during the current transfer window.
Given Laporta’s comments on the matter, it is now thought “an agreement between the two clubs could be imminent.”
Spurs Web Opinion
If Clement Lenglet is brought in, he would be a useful squad player.
But, we have to sign a higher quality centre-back as well.
Lenglet cannot be the only player we acquire to fix the problems in our defence or we will be destined to struggle again next season.
