Pundit names the one Celtic player he could see joining Postecoglou at Spurs
Alan Hutton has said that Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate has the required quality to succeed at Tottenham if he does follow Ange Postecoglou down south.
Predictably, since Postecoglou took over as Spurs head coach at the start of June, a handful Celtic players have been linked with respective moves to the North London club.
The rumours surrounding striker Kyogo Furuhashi have been the heaviest, with The Sun asserting earlier his month that the Australian is keen on bringing the prolific Japanese forward with him to the Premier League side.
Tottenham are not the only club who are thought to have their eye on Furuhashi, with The Daily Record reporting last week that the striker is also on Burnley’s wishlist.
The forward’s compatriot, Hatate, has also been mooted as a target for Spurs, with 90 min reporting a couple of weeks ago that there are concerns at the Glasgow club that their former boss could come calling for the midfielder.
Hutton tips Hatate for a potential Spurs move
When asked about Postecoglou potentially poaching players from Celtic Park, former Rangers and Tottenham right-back Alan Hutton has told Football Insider: “I am really interested to see how this plays out.
“Not from a Rangers point of view but to see if he can go down there and handle that. He has done so well and has been a breath of fresh air since he came to Celtic.
“You always hear these rumours circulating if your own manager moves to another club. I do potentially think that Hatate has got the opportunity with his age, he is still young, to go down there.”
Spurs Web Opinion
The reports linking the likes of Hatate, Furuhashi and Jota to Spurs are quite baseless and it is simply lazy journalism on the back of Postecoglou’s move to Tottenham.
The Australian would be aware that the step up in quality from the Scottish Premiership to the Premier League is substantial.
So, I would be surprised if he was seriously insisting on bringing any Celtic player to North London.
