Journalist outlines Tottenham’s immediate transfer ambitions
Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur will now look to sign a centre-back before turning their attention to offloading some existing squad members
It has been reported by multiple publications over the last few weeks (including The Athletic and The Telegraph) and Ange Postecolgou is expected to oversee a mass clearout at Spurs this summer, with around ten players likely to leave the club.
With Harry Winks completing a transfer to Leicester City, Hugo Lloris, Japhet Tanganga, Davinson Sanchez, Joe Rodon, Sergio Reguilon and Ivan Perisic have all been named as potential other departures during the current window.
Postecoglou has already moved quickly to bolster his squad with Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro signing on a permanent basis along with Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison from Empoli and Leicester City respectively.
Tottenham are tipped to wrap up a deal for Manor Solomon this week with the Israeli winger set to undergo a medical at Hotspur Way tomorrow (Evening Standard).

Michael Bridge claims Spurs will look to sign defender next
Reports over the last week have indicated that Spurs are now focused on signing a left-sided centre-back, with Wolfsburg’s Micky Van de Veen and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Taposoba thought to be at the top of the clubs’s wishlist (Football.London).
Bridge has now said that Tottenham want to sell some of their deadwood after strengthening their backline.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “From my information, I think the target now is to get at least one defender in. Then, Tottenham are going to have to do some kind of sale and get a number of players out. That’s when Ange Postecoglou will start really shaping his squad.”

We will get a clear idea on who will be offloaded from the squad that travels on pre-season tour to Asia and Australia. Given the size of our squad, it is clear that not all of them are going to get on the plane. I expect the likes of Reguilon, Perisic, Rodon (and the others who are deemed surplus to requirements) to remain back in London.
