Motorcyclist killed in crash with motor vehicle in Rocky Hill
A motorcyclist died after colliding with a motor vehicle in Rocky Hill on Thursday afternoon, police said.
Several 911 emergency calls reported a motor vehicle crash with a motorcycle around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Cromwell Avenue and Cold Spring Road, according to the Rocky Hill Police Department.
Police responded to the scene along with the Rocky Hill Fire Department and Aetna paramedics. An early investigation showed that the collision took place at the intersection of Cromwell Avenue and Cold Spring Road when the motorcycle, traveling northbound on Cromwell Avenue, collided with the motor vehicle that was coming out of the parking area of 950 Cromwell Avenue, police said.
According to police, the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries. Responding officers and bystanders provided medical aid until paramedics arrived, police said. The motorcyclist was then transported to a local hospital where they later died, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
“The identity of the motor vehicle operator or the deceased motorcycle operator is not going to be released at this time,” Rocky Hill Sgt. Jeffrey Foss-Rugan said in a release on Thursday.
The Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation due to the seriousness of the collision, police said.
