I’m a cleaning expert – the 6 hidden spots in your kitchen which are covered in grime and limescale… & how to scrub them
IT can be hard keeping track of all the spots in your home you need to clean.
According to on expert, there are at least six spots in your kitchen alone you’re forgetting about, and they’re covered probably covered in grime and limescale.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, AO’s appliance expert, Nick Small, revealed exactly how to clean the hidden dirt.
Don’t worry, it’s easier than you might think, and you can get them all done and dusted in no time at all.
Kettles
The limescale in your kettle isn’t just an annoyance, it could actually be making it work less effiecently.
The pro suggested mixing baking soda and water and pouring the mixture into the kettle before boiling it.
Then leave it to cool and rinse it out to get rid of the mixture and any limescale that’s been lifted.
Cooker hood
You might keep your actual oven nice and clean – but when was the last time you cleaned the hood?
Grease and grime can quickly build up in it’s filter,
Nick said it’s best to give them a good clean once every three months to make sure they’re working properly.
Washing machine filers
The pro said: “The hidden places on your washing machine like your filter and detergent draw are where the unpleasant smells may be coming from.”
You should also clean the detergent draw once every couple of months using warm, soapy water, he added.
Toaster tray
Even if the outside of your toaster looks clean, you still need to remember to empty the crumb tray.
Use a dry cloth to brush away the crumbs and you can even get into the grooves with a cocktail stick if you want to go the extra mile.
Door seals
The door seal on your fridge and freezer might not always be visible, but lots of dirt and grime can get trapped there.
The cleaning whizz recommended using an old toothbrush to keep them in tip top condition.
Dishwasher filter
The filter in your dishwasher should be cleaned monthly
“This will help prevent any odours and bits of old food swilling around your dishwasher during each cycle,” Nick said.
