I chuck my 18-month-old in ice cold baths… trolls call me a bad mum but it’s the best thing I could do as a parent
A MUM has hit back at trolls who accuse her of being a bad parent after she chucked her baby in an ice cold bath.
Mum-of-two Kya Jueb, from Oklahoma, the US, took to TikTok to share the response and explain why she had decided to take up ice baths with her 18-month-old.
Kya, whose social media page says she likes ice, regularly hops into baths filled with gallons of water and piles of ice – and it seems she is now teaching her both children to follow the routine too.
Also known as cryotherapy, the five to ten minute practice is particularly popular amongst athletes and those into sports and it’s been around for decades.
According to Healthline, there are several potential benefits if you decide to subject your body to extreme cold.
As well as easing sore muscles, the cold water is also believed to help your central nervous system by aiding in sleep.
Some experts even reckon that taking an ice cold bath can also train your vagus nerve – this, one guru, Aurimas Juodka, said can help you face stressful scenarios ” more adequately”.
But whilst she may believe in the icy baths, Kya has also been accused of being a ”bad mum”.
According to her, she is regularly told to not teach her children this practice as they ”don’t understand” and the smallest of the family is ”too young”.
However, this doesn’t seem to have stopped her, as she recently shared a heartwarming video of the two enjoying the routine.
As Kya, who calls herself ”Ice Queen”, was sat in a bigger bath filler with ice, her son was in a smaller plastic box next to her.
Proud of him, Kya said in the clip: ”My 18-month-old taking deep breaths to calm himself.”

She went on the caption: ”The best thing I can do, for my kids is to set a good example for them by including them in my daily routine and instilling confidence, peace, and courage into their minds.”
Fellow TikTok users raced to comments, where many praised the mum-of-two.
One said: ”People are so afraid of healthful, natural coping & healing. We do cold here too.”
Another parent penned: ”This is amazing having a good role model!
”I live watching the kids take ice baths, just make sure when they are older they don’t go jumping into random ice rivers in winter as it could be dangerous.”
”He’s fine, lots of research on ice bathes,” someone else chimed in..
”I don’t do them, I literally hate the cold, I’m inspired by ppls ability to do it though!”
