Palletline partners with Linde to upgrade forklift fleet

Palletline is refreshing its forklift fleet with energy efficient models, including 10 that are all-electric, and they are expected to save more than £100,000 over five years.

A total of 78 new forklifts will operate across hubs in London, Birmingham and Coventry following a partnership with Linde Material Handling.

The 10 electric Linde E25Ls have the capacity to complete eight-hour shifts and the Tensor chargers installed on site enable a six-hour charge time.

Palletline said an extra benefit was the significantly reduced maintenance costs, with the only expenditure expected to be new tyres across the five-year contract.

The majority of the forklifts entering the Palletline fleet are Linde H18T with 60 trucks on their way.

Fuel consumption is just 2.8kg of fuel per hour.

The forklifts will be fitted with a hook-on weighing device courtesy of B&B Attachments and Palletline said it had been working with both Linde and B&B Attachments on the project for 18 months.

Graham Leitch, Palletline group MD, said: “We are extremely excited about this partnership with Linde, with plans already in place for the future of the Palletline fleet.

“We are currently working with Linde to investigate the use of hydrogen fuel cells in forklifts to further reduce the environmental impact of forklifts whilst at the same time reducing fuel costs.

“Hydrogen is expected to be a significant opportunity for this partnership and we are hoping to be one of the first to introduce a hydrogen fuelled fleet of forklifts in the industry further reinforcing our market leading position in the marketplace.”
