Longtime Bengals punter Kevin Huber announced his retirement on Friday after 14 seasons in the NFL.
“The past 14 years have been beyond my imagination and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the Bengals organization,” he wrote on Twitter.
Huber grew up in Cincinnati and went to the University of Cincinnati from 2005 to ’08, before the Bengals drafted him in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL draft. From there, Huber spent his entire career in Cincinnati as the Bengals punter and the longest tenured player on the team.
From 2009 to ’21, Huber was remarkably healthy, playing in all but two games possible in that span. The veteran made one Pro Bowl in 2014, and he averaged 45.3 yards per punt on over 1,000 punts in his career.
In the announcement, Huber thanked all his teammates and coaches for the past 14 years, and especially gave thanks to Cincinnati fans.
“To all Bengals fans, your grit and unwavering enthusiasm for our team and city are second to none,” he wrote. “I may be signing off as #10, but you better believe I’ll be joining the jungle chanting ‘Who Dey’ alongside you all.”
