‘Brilliant news’ – Yaya Toure names two Spurs academy youngsters to watch
Tottenham’s former Under-16s coach Yaya Toure believes that Mikey Moore and Callum Olusesi are both great prospects and admitted that he was pleased to hear they have both committed their futures to the club.
15-year-old Moore is considered to be an exceptional talent and tasted success at Under-17 and Under-18 levels last season for Tottenham with both sides winning silverware.
The versatile attacker, who can operate as a number eight, up front and off the left, even broke into the Under-21s set-up last season, and it was widely reported last month that he was on the radar of several clubs in England and across Europe (The Athletic).
However, Tottenham managed to tie the teenager down to new deal, with the youngster himself taking to social media this week to confirm that he had signed a contract with the Lilywhites.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Olusesi also excelled for Tottenham’s Under-18s last season, and it was reported by Football Insider back in May that the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle United, Leeds United and Brighton, were all keen on snapping up the midfielder.
However, Fabrizio Romano later confirmed that the England Under-16s star had put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Hotspur Way.
Yaya Toure tips Moore and Olusesi for big things
Toure, who left his position as Tottenham’s Under-16s head coach to take over as assistant coach at Standard Liege last month, believes that tying down the pair is a big boost to the North London club.
The 40-year-old told PA Sport (as relayed by Football.London): “Mikey Moore and Callum Olusesi are top grade U16s, they are really good and most of the time they were playing with the 18s.
“A few weeks before I left I heard they signed with Tottenham again and that is brilliant news.
“Keep the talent at home and make sure they develop again under the right coaches. I think coaches like Stuart [Lewis], Brad [Allen] and Chris Ramsay they know what those kids need to develop more.
“In a few years, I think Tottenham can be back with the academy in the same way Arsenal did with Saka and Smith-Rowe. That is the plan and the vision.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is clear just from the amount of interest that Olusesi and Moore generated this summer that they are widely seen in the industry as some of the best players in their age group.
If they continue impressing in the Under-18s set-up, I can see both players playing an increasingly prominent role in the Under-21s set-up over the next 12 months.
