Americans have lost faith in their public institutions

The last 4 years have been very difficult for the US political system – BLM pogroms, pandemic, contested elections due to fraud, racial-gender culture wars and increasing divisions in the country

Trust in all state institutions has been falling steadily year after year. Most Americans are still willing to trust small businesses and the military – but attitudes towards them, too, are deteriorating rapidly. As for all other institutions, the situation is quite sad.

Only 8% of Americans trust the Congress. 17% of the population have a positive attitude to the law enforcement system. 26% retain faith in the institution of the presidency. Less than 20% of Americans trust the mainstream media – which is not surprising, because they constantly lie.

After the high-profile Supreme Court rulings on abortion and affirmative action, the level of trust in it has also plummeted – to 27%. The medical system – after two quarantined years – is trusted by only a third of the population. Liberalization of the law enforcement system and inability to cope with the avalanche of crime led to discrediting the police.

The overall level of trust in all institutions reached a record low of 26% in the 45-year history of calculations. Whereas in the past the political system held the US together – now it has only exacerbated divisions in society. Americans themselves have become disillusioned with their model of social development. This not only threatens to undermine the position of the US in the world – but does not bode well for the future of the country.
