DILLON MACKESY CRUISES IN JOHN BREVIK CLASSIC FEATURE WIN!
BAEHMAN, KLUCK, ANDERSON, SHEAHEN, WEINFURTER, KULSETH, SCORE FEATURE WINS!
Marshfield, WI, (July 8, 2023) – Fans flocked into Marshfield Motor Speedway, and enjoyed seven divisions of racing on John Brevik Classis/WCAR Kid’s Night at the Races presented by Norlen, Inc. Kids were treated to many prizes and a spectacular candy drop, and all enjoyed one of the most incredible fireworks shows in the Midwest.
Travis Volm visited the track for the first time in 2023 and earned fast time honors for the super late models. Mark Eswein captured the Chili Implement Six for Six Dash & heat win. Michael Haggar of Minnesota, put his #19 car in the Solutionz Victory Lane in heat 2, edging out Noah Gajewski.
In feature action, Michael Haggar darted out to the early lead, with Noah Gajewski running a close second. With Haggar holding a comfortable lead, Carter Christenson moved into the runner up position on lap 9. A few laps later, Dillon Mackesy put his familiar #93 car into the second position, and quickly closed on Haggar for the race lead. Mark Eswein moved into the third position by lap 12, and raced to the bumper of Mackesy. On lap 19, Eswein was forced to park his car with mechanical issues. On the same lap, Dillon Mackesy made his move on Haggar for the race lead. With Mackesy out front, Travis Volm put his #76 car in the second spot, by lap 21. The #107.5 car of Darek Gress, quietly raced his way thru the pack. With Mackesy holding a 4 car length lead, and on the final lap of the John Brevik Classic, Gress was able to get by Volm, as the two drivers dragged to the finish line. It was the third consecutive week that Gress found himself in the runner up spot. Rounding out the top five, it was Carter Christenson and Michael Hagger, fourth and fifth respectively.

The Upper Midwest Vintage Series was guests at the speedway tonight, and with 14 entries, the cars of yesteryear put on one heck of a show. Todd Lindner of Loyal, WI, took the checkered flag in heat 1, and the heat 2 winner was Holmen, WI driver, Brian Lee.
Todd Lindner jumped out to the front early, leading the first seven laps of the vintage feature. With Lindner out front, it was Eric Melchior and Justin Jessop, looking to advance their cars to the top spot. By lap six, Brian Lee moved his #93 car to the third spot. The car that was advancing quickly, was the beautiful 1970 Mustang of Jim Kulseth. By lap nine, Kulseth moved his #20 car to the front. With Kulseth holding the lead, and with two laps remaining, Brian Lee put his car in the second spot with an outside pass of Lindner. Once the drivers took the checkered flag from Starter Tom Ledin, it was Kulseth, Lee, and Lindner, your top three drivers. Finishing fourth and fifth respectively, it was Sean Herzog and Justin Jessop.

The X-Treme 4’s were apart of the show tonight, and per usual, put a great show on for the large crowd visiting Marshfield Motor Speedway. Fast qualifier tonight for the X-Treme 4’s was Tim Anderson with a lap time of 21.317 seconds. Mike Jaeger finally got the monkey off his back, earning his heat win. Jaeger, the past few years, has had a mixture of mechanical issues and bad luck. Heat 2 winner tonight was Tim Anderson as he held of Mike Meharg.
Feature action for the X-Treme 4’s proved to be as exciting as all the fans expected. Mike Jaeger darted out to the early lead, and held that spot until lap 3. Mike Meharg put his #40 car to the front of the field with an outside pass of Jaeger for the race lead. Kamren Hill looked good tonight as he motored his #38 car to the third spot by lap four. On lap four, Tim Anderson, whom of which was looking for the evening sweep, put his brightly colored Solutionz modified 4-cylinder into the top spot. Anderson, with the inside move, worked his way around Meharg for the race lead. Once obtaining the lead, Tim Anderson took the checkered flag and visited the Solutionz Victory Lane. Finishing a strong second was Hancock, WI driver Jeremy Kemnetz. Mike Jaeger earned the final podium spot, finishing third in the 20-lap feature event.

It was another great night of racing from the Bandits, a division of racing that has become a fan favorite. Fast Qualifier tonight for the Bandits was Jamie Cliver. Cliver, a newcomer to the division, has been nothing short of sensational in his rookie campaign as a Bandit driver in the #57 Tyler Custer ride. Heat winners tonight were Sam Sheahen and Hunter Landwehr.
During the early laps of the Bandit feature event, Jeremiah Apsey and Pat Dickman took turns holding the top spot. On the race’s 5th lap, it was a very fast #715 Sam Sheahen bolting to the lead. Ashley Schoone worked her way to the second spot by lap eight, with Tom Lecher running a strong third. Once the drivers received the checkered flag from Starter Tom Ledin, it was Sam Sheahen earning the win. With Ashley Schoone finishing a strong second, Tom Lecher grabbed the third spot. Rounding out the top five and having impressive runs, it was Austin Rauch finishing fourth, and Mark Schoone coming home in the 5th position.

Visiting the paved 1/2 mile oval for the first of four times during the 2023 race season, the Super Stocks/Sportsman drivers competed. Joe Monti, in his #20 stock car, earned top honors in qualifying with a lap time of 20.555 seconds. Brian Weinfurter grabbed the checkered flag in the heat, as he edged Jim Cormack for the win.
In SS/Sportsman feature action, Carson Sillars put his #2 car to the front of the field, with John Van Stedum in the second spot. Brian Weinfurter worked his way thru the field, and put his #24 car on the point as he made the pass of Sillars for the race lead. Once gaining the top spot, Weinfurter cruised to another feature win at Marshfield. Carson Sillars had a very strong run, putting his super stock in the runner up position, with Plover, WI driver Jim Cormack grabbing the third spot.

The 6-Shooters were back in action, here again tonight, and it was Michael Kluck fastest in qualifying. Heat winners tonight were Ryan Bentz and Craig Lyon.
Pat Literski moved out to the early lead, Literski, driving the #19 6-Shooter, would hold the top spot for the first 4 laps. On lap five, Brandon Van Stedum grabbed the top spot. Van Stedum would relinquish the top spot a few laps later as Craig Lyon moved past him. Lyon would lead the next 4 laps with Michael Kluck at his rear bumper. With five laps remaining, Michael Kluck made the pass of Craig Lyon, and motored on to the feature win. With Craig Lyon finishing a strong second place, it was heat winner Ryan Bentz grabbing the final podium spot.

The fireworks on the track prior to the huge fireworks in the sky, it was the always fun to watch Skidders!
With 16 entries, the fans knew they were in for a great show. These cars that have skid plates welded to their rear wheels, drift around the speedway, in a shower of sparks!
Dusty Zander drifted to the lead on the first lap, with Mark Hagen running second. Hagen would lead laps 2 & 3, but the very skilled #10 of Jake Baehman, drifted to the lead on lap 5, and fended off Hagen for the race win. With Hagen grabbing second, it was Adam Hemmer earning the third position. Jamie Cliver and Preston Van Stedum, rounded out the top five respectively.

Marshfield Motor Speedway will be back in action next Saturday night, with Budweiser Night at the Races. Super Late Models, X-Treme 4’s, 6-Shooters, Bandits, and Skidders will all be in action.
