A56 crash: Tragedy as teenage girl Bonny Rae Barrow, 15, dies in horror smash after van veered off road
A SCHOOLGIRL who was left fighting for her life after a horror smash has now died.
Bonny Rae Barrow, 15, was the passenger in a van when it left the carriageway of the A56 slip road on Friday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and the teen was raced to Manchester Children’s Hospital.
Bonny Rae was then transferred to Wythenshawe Hospital where she tragically died.
A man, 23, has now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Police are now urging witnesses to come forward if they saw the Mercedes Sprinter van.
Sgt Phil Baxendale, of the Specialist Operations Road Policing Unit, said: “First and foremost my thoughts are with the loved ones of the young girl who has sadly lost her life.
“While we have made an arrest our investigation is ongoing and I would continue to appeal to anyone who either saw the collision itself, or the van beforehand, or who has any footage which could assist in our investigation, to get in touch.”
