Spider Nugent faces off against gun toting psychopath in Coronation Street shooting horror
TOYAH Battersby is in danger this week as an unknown woman knocks on her door and kidnaps her after a bloody struggle.
Soon, Spider Nugent is racing against time to save her before being held at gunpoint by the culprit in Coronation Street.
Spider and Toyah are thrown back in the spotlight in upcoming scenes of the ITV soap.
After working to help bring far-right activist Griff Reynolds to justice, the copper portrayed by Martin Hancock is given a new case to solve as well as a chance to flee the cobbles with a new identity.
Unfortunately for him, his partner Toyah (played by Georgia Taylor) ends up caught in the crossfire of his undercover police work and gets kidnapped by a secret enemy.
Both soap stalwarts have been seen filming on location, in a seemingly isolated spot, as Spider will risk his life to save Toyah.
Spider was seen standing over Toyah while facing a brand new villain, supposedly from his past.
The copper will be held at gunpoint before a struggle between him and the woman will ensue before a helpless Toyah who is kneeling on the ground – but who will come out of the showdown alive?
Nothing could prepare the Weatherfield couple for what’s to come.
In upcoming scenes, their week begins with a surprise proposal, taking Toyah aback due to the many hurdles they’ve had to jump through in recent months.
As viewers of the Manchester-based program will remember, Spider hasn’t been the most honest of partners with Toyah and went as far as to hide his estranged wife from her.
But will she see his proposal as a proof of his unwavering love and accept?
This remains to be seen but their happiness is due to be cut short when Toyah realises she’s being followed by a mystery woman when Spider is away on assignment.
The woman later confronts Toyah, claiming to be Spider’s estranged wife, although he insists that can’t be possible as she is supposedly out of the country.
Spider is alarmed and rushes home only to find the flat empty after spotting signs of a struggle – including traces of blood.
As mentioned above, Spider will then rush to save his other half but could he sacrifice himself in the process?
Speaking about the upcoming storyline, Georgia Taylor told Digital Spy the couple will be thrown in a few weeks’ worth of turmoil.
“This comes hot on the heels of me having quite a lot of drama last year, but that does tend to happen in soap”, she explained.
“I’ve definitely filmed some scenes that were a bit unusual and there was some location filming which was really fun, so there’s definitely a bit of drama to look out for.”

And when it comes to Spider’s surprise proposal, Toyah will “definitely” be taken by surprise.
“She’s definitely shocked”, Georgia added.
“I think she thought they would probably get a place together and live together for a bit, so this feels like maybe jumping the gun a little bit, although she does love him very much. I think the issue is that because he has been hiding things from her, you could argue that if it’s all above board with his ex, why has he not just told her that in the first place?”
“So I think there are a few little niggles where she’s thinking ‘Can I completely trust him and if I agree to this what is my life and my future going to be like, married to someone who is an undercover detective?'”
But will they even get the chance to take their relationship to the next level?
