I’m a gypsy & people are shocked when they hear about my relationship, trolls say I’m living in sin but it’s tradition
A WOMAN from the gypsy community has hit back at trolls who say she is living in sin.
Chantelle Devonshire, from the UK, spoke out about her relationship that trolls have criticised.
In the TikTok clip, the brunette beauty explained that instead of getting married, she and her partner ran away together.
It’s common for those in the traveller community to get married before spending the night with their partner, but Chantelle revealed she was just going back to tradition.
In the clip, she explained: “I’m probably gonna get a lot of hate.
“Yesterday, I had someone comment on my video saying, ‘Oh, you’re living in sin.
“‘You run off, you ain’t really married.'”
Chantelle used the biblical story of Adam and Eve as an example of why she wasn’t in the wrong.
Explaining that these two didn’t get married and marriage wasn’t even a thing.
She added: “They used to just, right, run away. That’s it.
“Spend the night together. That is it.
“And you’re saying I’m living in sin?
“Well, Adam and Eve was living in sin then.”
Chantelle revealed at some point she will go to the registry office with her partner, who she lives with, so that their future children have the same last name.
“All I’m saying is that I’m doing the tradition, mate, that travelers years ago done,” she added.
“They used to get a broomstick, mate and jump it and go.
“That was it.
“But you’re saying I’m living in sin.”
The video posted to her account @chantelle19xoxo has since gone viral with over 125k views and over 10k likes.
Despite the mean comment, people were quick to support Chantelle and remind her that as long as she was happy nothing else mattered.
One person wrote: “As long as you’re happy do what you want.”
Another commented: “Do whatever makes you happy! It’s your life.”
“Live your best life my gal all the best to you both,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Piece of paper won’t hold two people together.”
