I’m an elegance expert – five things that cheapen your appearance…don’t even think about denim shorts
DO you never know what outfit to throw together when you’re in a rush in the mornings?
Well, according to one elegance expert, there are five things that you should definitely avoid – unless you want to look cheap, that is.
In a clip posted to TikTok, the woman, who posts under the acronym @level_blue, shared the things she recommends everyone steer clear of this summer.
First up on her hit list is heavy makeup.
“Full coverage foundations, contouring, putting on layers and layers of makeup on your face,” she says.
“It never looks good or natural in real life in daylight, but especially on a hot summer day.
“When you have so much makeup sitting on your face and you’re sweating, it looks horrendous.”
She urges: “Don’t wear makeup when you’re on a beach or swimming pool doing any sports or activities, it looks cheap.

“It makes you look insecure in your own skin.”
Instead of wearing makeup, she recommends people focus on the health of their skin and apply sunscreen regularly throughout the day.
Next up, the elegance whizz takes issue with the “simple teenage girl look.”
She explains that this involves anything from blue denim shorts, tank tops, cheap short floral dresses or rompers, flip flops, and Converse shoes.
“It’s fine if you’re 13, but as a grown woman it’s not appropriate to wear in the summer,” she points out.
Moving on, the fashion whizz points out that “cheap, tacky, layered custom jewellery or plated jewellery” is also a big no.
“It’s something that I see women buy all the time in fast fashion stores like H&M or Primark,” she explains.
“Of course, I realise that not everyone can afford expensive jewellery.
“This is not the point, but I always advocate for less is more approach.
“Instead of having a ton of cheap bling bling, I’d suggest investing in one dainty, elegant necklace or small simple earrings.
“It looks a lot more tasteful and expensive.
“And solid gold or silver will serve you for a lifetime, so this is something you spend money once on and then you never have to do this again.”
The elegance expert goes on to say that another thing that’ll cheapen your appearance is fake tan or wrong shades of tan.
Or using bronzing products that are transferring to your clothing or your car seats.
“I don’t understand the desire to be a tan bronze goddess, but if you’re doing it wrong, you’re doing yourself a disservice,” she warns.
“Make sure you use good quality products.
“Make sure you pick the right shade for your skin tone, maintain it well, and if you don’t want to keep up with it, then don’t do it in the first place because it’ll cheapen your look.”
And lastly, she tells people to avoid “ridiculous” cheap sunglasses or heavily branded sunglasses.
She explains: “I don’t think I need to address the first type.
“It should be pretty straightforward.
“But the sunglasses without branding, despite the price, make you look tacky and cheap.
“Big logos are no no for elegant and chic appearance.
“The company name should be minimal and discreet.”
The post has since gone viral, garnering a staggering xx views and several comments – with many quick to agree.
“This woman for President,” joked one.
A second pointed out: “In summer I run on mascara and lip gloss only.”
A third wrote: “The jewellery thing is so real!
“I purchased a expensive bracelet and necklace and have been wearing both ever since!”
Meanwhile, a fourth noted: “So so true.”
Another praised: “Great advice.”
A further added: “I agree with you on everything.”
