Mum reveals hack to deal with babies’ messy tea times – but people quickly warn against it
A MUM has been slammed after sharing her “hack” for dealing with kids’ messy tea times.
Monique is a first-time mum, and loves picking up different parenting tips and ideas online.
She also shares her own suggestions for other parents, and recently took to TikTok to post a video explaining how she keeps her child’s highchair tray clean.
Instead of having to wipe the tray down after every meal, she stretches cling film across it, and tapes down the edges underneath to ensure it stays in place.
Then, at the end of the meal, she’s able to roll up the cling film – with the food and waste inside – to throw directly in the bin.
“Mum hack that i also learned from tiktok,” she captioned her video.
But the comments section on the video was quickly filled with people warning against the hack.
“Suffocation hazard,” one wrote.
“That’s dangerous – choking for the kids,” another added.
“Choke risk – clean the mess, most trays detach,” a third commented.
As someone else wrote: “The way I would stress about the suffocation hazard.”
Others had a different complaint – namely the amount of plastic the hack uses.
“In Europe we are saving plastic meanwhile in america…” one began.
As another questioned: “Cost? And environment? Or nah?”
“Please try not to use plastic unnecessarily and fill up our landfills,” a third urged.
“Just wipe it up with a reusable washcloth.”
“Think of the turtles,” someone else wrote.
