More than a million people in Ethiopia's northern Tigray region are said to be at high risk of starvation, after a two-year conflict exacerbated by a severe drought. The World Food Programme describes it as a hunger emergency. Across the country, the UN agency says 20 million people out of a total 120 million population rely on food assistance.
