Woman comes up with unique way to jazz up her house – but people warn her it’s bound to cause huge problems
A WOMAN who decided to try out a unique way to jazz up her hallway has been warned that her technique might not last.
Kelby explained that she’s hated the tiles in the hall since “day one” of moving into her house.
But, given that she’s renting, she had to come up with a temporary way to give it a whole new look.
In a video on TikTok, Kelby said: “I’m experimenting with my rental tile floor so you don’t have to.”
Explaining that she didn’t even know what colour the grout between the tiles was supposed to be, Kelby bought some white grout pens to go over the top.
Once she’d done that, she said she was “going to try and make my own tile decals out of wallpaper”.
She bought a roll of black and white patterned peel and stick wallpaper off of Amazon for £31, but couldn’t get the pattern to line up properly.
So, taking someone’s advice from the comments section, she decided to use the patterned squares and alternate them with plain black.
And while people complimented Kelby on the finished look, many of them said they weren’t sure how it would hold up.
“Wallpaper? Doesn’t it come off when you walk on it? Did you seal it with something? Looks beautiful,” one wrote.
To which Kelby replied: “Yep, wallpaper! Doesn’t come off when walking on it.
“Just vacuumed it today too.
“I was just experimenting and trying something out on this tile.”
“Do you think using wallpaper on the floor would get ruined quickly with stepping on it?” another asked.
As Kelby responded: “That’s why I said I’m experimenting.”
“Nooo not wallpaper! You can get tile stickers on Etsy that will hold up much better.” a third wrote.
But Kelby admitted that doing the area she wanted with the tile stickers would have cost her around £400.
She also added in response to another comment: “I’ve looked into every peel and stick tile and it would cost me a fortune to do this.
“The wallpaper was the cheapest option.”
And someone else raged: “Why don’t u buy ur own property before ‘experimenting’ on somebody else’s???”
