Food Channel's Guy Fieri faces furious blowback after photo with Trump
Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is facing sharp criticism after he was seen with former President Donald Trump at an Ultimate Fighting Championship event in Las Vegas, reported The Independent on Monday.
"Turning Point USA chief creative officer Benny Johnson, a Trump supporter, posted a picture of the two men to Twitter, referring in the caption to Fieri’s catchphrase: 'Trump in Flavor Town,'" reported Rachel Sharp. "Trump supporters were thrilled to see the two men together, but critics slammed Fieri for mingling with the twice-impeached former president. 'Literally one of the worst cooks out there hang with worst president ever,' one person tweeted."
Fieri, a star on the Food Network, has come under controversy in the past for accusations of homophobia, sexual harassment, and creating a hostile work environment.
In the past, celebrities who have been seen as close to Trump or associating with Trump have faced fierce blowback.
One example is NFL quarterback Tom Brady, who golfed with the former president on numerous occasions before he took the White House and in 2015 was seen with a "Make America Great Again" hat in his football locker, which Brady says Trump sent to him personally.
Speaking to Variety last year, Brady said that his relationship with Trump has been "misinterpreted" by the press, and he has not spoken with the former president in several years.
