UCF to be featured in “Big 12 Homecoming” Tour
The Big 12 Conference is hitting the road this football season as part of a “Big 12 Homecoming” tour with stops planned at its four new member schools: BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF.
The tour is part of a conference-wide celebration, with each visit featuring 3-days of events. It kicks off in Houston on Sept. 14-16, followed by a trip to Cincinnati (Sept. 21-23) and then UCF (Sept. 28-30) before finishing off at BYU (Oct. 19-21).
The Knights host Baylor on Sept. 30 as part of Family Weekend, with the game already sold out.
“We are thrilled to launch Big 12 Homecoming and debut this celebration of our Conference on the campuses of our four newest members,” Big 12 Chief Marketing Officer Tyrel Kirkham said in a statement. “Each of these four programs have waited years for this moment, and as a Conference, we want to ensure their arrival is memorialized and celebrated. These events will bring a new level of entertainment and excitement to Big 12 campuses.”

Each 3-day event kicks off on Thursday with a women’s empowerment panel featuring female leaders and athletes discussing impacting change on campus. On Friday, athletes and coaches will visit one area elementary school to unveil a $50,000 makeover as part of the College Football Playoff Foundation’s signature program, Extra Yard Makeover Project. On Saturday, the conference will work to enhance each school’s pre-game tailgating experience with live DJ performances, merchandise giveaways and an Armed Forced pre-game flyover.
The remaining eight Big 12 member schools will be a part of the Homecoming Tour in later years.
