Connecticut cannabis sales hit close to $24 million in June
The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection said Monday that “new preliminary data” shows combined sales for adult-use cannabis and medical marijuana totaled nearly $24 million for the month of June.
CT recreational cannabis sales break $5 million in January. Medical marijuana totals more.
During June, the adult-use market recorded $12.5 million in sales, while the medical marijuana market recorded $11.3 million in sales for the same period, according to the agency.
Adult-use sales began six months ago on Jan. 10.
The data shows that in June, medical marijuana patients purchased 303,293 products, and adult-use consumers purchased 313,510 products.
The average product price for medical marijuana patients was $37.43 in June, while the average price of adult-use products was $40, the data states.
The department also released data about the types of products sold by dollar amount in the last six months.
In the first six months of sales, 53 percent were for cannabis in flower form, while vapes made up 25 percent of sales, the data shows. Edibles represented 10 percent of sales.
This data was collected through the state’s Seed-to-Sale Tracking System. DCP does not make revenue projections, set sales expectations, collect taxes, or regulate prices.
The department noted that transaction limits “of 1/4 ounce of raw flower or the equivalent remain in effect for all adult-use purchases. Medical marijuana patients may purchase up to 5 ounces per month and are not subject to individual transaction limits.”
