Volunteer Speedway operations manager Vic Hill schedules open practice Thursday, July 13
BULLS GAP, Tenn. – Volunteer Speedway operations manager Vic Hill has scheduled open practice Thursday, July 13, from 6-9 p.m. Pit gates will open at 5 p.m., with admission $20 per person.
With 2023 weekly racing promoters the Proffitt family unexpectedly stepping aside on Monday, Hill is exploring his options moving forward regarding scheduling events.
With Hill a five-time Super Late Model champion at “The Gap,” the track is very special to him and he, along with several others, have volunteered their time helping keep the place going. However, his day-to-day business is Vic Hill Race Engines and they stay extremely busy building race-winning engines for racers all across the country.
Volunteer Speedway opened the season back in early spring with Hill co-promoting two of the biggest events in the track’s history. Former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson presented the FloRacing Late Model Challenge. Barry Braun’s XR Super Series $100,000-to-win Spring Thaw was the richest dirt late model race ever held in the South. A new all-time record crowd attended the Spring Thaw, with a stellar field of top drivers from around the country present.
Forthcoming information from Hill will be released in the coming days.
