Conservative thrashes Arizona GOP: It seems like nothing can make the party 'act normal and sane'
Conservative columnist Matt Lewis believes that the Arizona Republican Party is running itself into the ground on behalf of former President Donald Trump.
Writing at The Daily Beast, Lewis takes stock of reports that the Arizona GOP is running out of money and he says that it's hard to see what, if anything, will make the party begin "acting normal and sane."
In particular, Lewis is aghast that the party has blown hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to overturn Trump's 2020 election loss in the state despite the fact that it reportedly has less than $50,000 in cash on hand.
Additionally, he writes that the party "spent more than $530,000 on 'vanity projects' like a 2022 victory party and bus tour," even as the party would go on to lose all major statewide races last year.

"Donors don’t want to give money to a crazy party," Lewis remarks.
Despite all this, there has been no accountability. Kelli Ward, who years ago pushed fringe conspiracy theories about chemtrails, is still chairwoman of the Republican Party, and 2022 gubernatorial loser Kari Lake is considered the frontrunner for the party's nomination for the United States Senate in 2024.
"Despite Lake’s subsequent loss to Democrat Katie Hobbs, there is no reason to believe that Arizona Republicans -- or any other Republicans, for that matter -- are tired of losing, yet," he concludes. "As John McCain used to always say, 'It’s always darkest... before it turns pitch black.'"
