The £2 trick to keeping your hot tub clean of grime & grease that’s leaving people totally grossed out at the results
A MAN has left people grossed out after revealing why lots of hot tubs have tennis balls in them.
Often, if people hop in the hot tub after applying sun cream or any other oil or lotion, it ends up leaving a greasy film on top of the water.
So, when a tennis ball is thrown in, the fibrous felt on the outside works to soak up this residue, leaving the water sparkling clean.
Once they’ve been left for a few hours to collect all the dirt, the tennis balls can be thrown into the washing machine to use again another time.
Real estate whizz Garrett Brown shared a video explaining the tennis ball hack on his Nice Flipping Choice Instagram page, and was immediately met with comments from horrified viewers.
“I have to say this, I do not like hot tubs. It just makes me think of people soup,” one person commented on the video.
As another suggested: “Don’t go into a hot tub that has hundreds of these floating in it first!”
“If you need to do that, you should just drain and refill. That’s gross,” a third insisted.
Others insisted there are special products made for solely this purpose, with one writing: “There are actual foam balls called Scum Balls which are designed to absorb 5 times their weight in oils.
“The same material is used to clean up oil spills in the ocean.”
As another added: “They make actual hot tub products that do that and you shouldn’t be getting in the hot tub or pool covered in lotions or tanning oils.”
But some people insisted they were going to give the hack a try.
“Omg, do they really???” one wrote.
“Oh I thought it was because they had dogs!” someone else laughed.
“I have never seen this.”
“Who knew ?!?! Gonna try !!!” a third said.
