Are pram sun shades safe?
Overheating is a massive concern for parents, especially as it has been found to increase the risk of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). Sun rays can also be especially harmful to babies, as their skin is much thinner than adults — parents are advised to keep babies under six months out of direct sunlight altogether.
As you and your little one head out to enjoy the weather, it’s understandable you’ll want to keep them protected, however, it’s important to do so with a specifically designed sun shade, rather than a blanket or other device. Using a blanket (or similar) can actually heat up the inside of a pram, causing an unsafe situation for your baby.
Instead, invest in a sunshade. Most designs have been proven to protect against UV rays, as well as use smart design systems to cool down your baby, keeping them both safe and
comfortable.
