Chinese Company to Invest $10 Million in Medicines Production in Afghanistan
A Chinese company named TNA has expressed a keen interest in investing $10 million in Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical sector, according to the National and Drug Authority (AFDS).
The Chinese company announced its willingness to donate $10 million to the construction of a pharmaceutical factory in the country, according to a statement from NFDA. For Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical sector, this development offers a significant prospect.
“The executive director of TNA, who had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Food and Drug Authority, showed interest in investing $10 million in Afghanistan,” said Mohammad Javid Hazheer, a spokesman for NFDA.
“They demanded to ensure their security and give them the land.”
In June, A company named Snow Pharma was sponsored by 71 shareholders at a $50 million investment in the Southern province of Kandahar.
The company has taken six years to complete and will produce tablets, capsules and Syrups for the country.
According to officials, the company will create 5.6 million pills, 2 million capsules, and 60,000 bottles of syrup within a single eight-hour shift.
“If foreign investors invest in Afghanistan, one good thing is that we will become self-sufficient; secondly, the quality of treatment will increase, and thirdly, it will affect the prices,” according to members of the Drug Manufacturing Companies Union in the country.
They said that the environment for the investment of local and foreign investors is ready and urged investors to invest in the sectors.
According to officials, more than $300 million has reportedly been invested in Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical manufacturing sector.
