'Worst miscreants of the darkest shadows of politics': Ex-Republican decimates GOP's key witnesses
More information is coming out about the Republican's so-called witness, Gal Luft, who alleged a Joe Biden bribery scheme with China. Among the many revelations in his recently released indictment is that he never worked for the company he told Republicans he worked for – and that he's accused of being an unregistered foreign agent for China and an arms dealer.
He's the latest so-called "whistleblower" that's been discredited and never filed for legal whistleblower protections. Republicans have responded to the news with more conspiracy theories. Among the allegations are that because Luft spoke out, he is being targeted by the president, though the indictment actually dropped before Rep. James Comer (R-KY) was reelected and months before he took over the Oversight Committee.
Speaking to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace, former Republican Rep. David Jolly (FL) said that he isn't surprised that it ended up this way.
"House Republicans and conservative media, including Fox News should take this latest round of public humiliation and move on from the Hunter Biden investigation. This could be a good opportunity, because if you are Kevin McCarthy's GOP congress, you have been relying on the testimony of a foreign agent who was just arrested, not only relying on it, amplifying it, and spreading propaganda from an unregistered foreign agent. Speaker McCarthy, you and your chairs of your committees have been doing that. Fox News, you have been amplifying that. I think the reason we're seeing the momentum shift in favor of Hunter Biden."
While the public may have had questions about Hunter Biden, Rep. Jim Jordan's (R-OH) "weaponization committee" has struggled to convince Americans that it is legitimate.
With the resolution of the Hunter Biden charges and plea agreement from a Trump-appointed U.S. attorney, Jolly said that any additional attacks by Republicans simply look like a "witch hunt from House Republicans.
And "what are they using for that witch hunt? Disputed information from an unregistered foreign agent and testimony from some of the worst miscreants of the darkest shadows of politics, that ultimately have to scatter like bugs with the sun shines is on them. That is what House Republicans are doing. And the only umbrage they're taking is in their own ignorance and malfeasance. So, this is a good time for them to move on," Jolly smacked down.
