CT man charged with murder in connection with body found in Stamford park in March
A 22-year-old man was charged with murder in connection with the death of a 21-year-old man found in a Stamford park in March.
Members of the Stamford Police Department’s Patrol Division, Narcotics Unit, Special Response Team and Major Crimes Unit took Abraham Talbert of Stamford into custody at his home at 2 p.m. on Tuesday for the March 19 homicide of Jaquan Tahir Saez.
On March 20, the Stamford Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a person reporting that there appeared to be a dead body in Boccuzzi Park at 200 Southfield Ave. just before 5 p.m., according to the Stamford police. Responding officers located the body, identified later as Saez, and closed the park for a preliminary investigation.
Saez had previously been reported missing by his family, and the department was actively investigating his disappearance at the time his body was discovered, police said.
The 3 1/2-month investigation, led by the department’s Major Crimes Unit, involved hundreds of hours and culminated in a significant amount of video and forensic evidence, according to police. The investigation determined “a physical altercation took place resulting in Talbert killing Saez while the two were in the park during the early morning hours of March 19,” Stamford Cpt. Thomas Scanlon said in a release on Tuesday.
Talbert was being held on a $1 million court-set bond and was scheduled to be arraigned at Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday, according to police.
“The Stamford Police Department would like to commend the numerous officers involved in this lengthy investigation and express our sincerest condolences to the family of Jaquan Tahir Saez,” Scanlon said in the release.
