Dad issues urgent warning as to why you should NEVER go down the slide with your baby on your lap
IT’S not uncommon when you’re at the park to see an adult going down the slide with a baby on their lap.
But one dad has issued an urgent warning as to why you should never to that, and is hoping people will take heed.
The post on the Caring Parent Instagram page was specifically directed at “new dads”, but applies to all parents.
“It’s not safe to let baby go down the slide on your lap,” they wrote over the top.
“Dad’s weight can crush and break baby’s leg if it gets caught on the slide.”
“Too many injuries when children legs get stuck under the adult,” they wrote in the caption.
And several people in the comments section admitted similar accidents had happened to themselves.
“My toddler fractured his leg going down a slice with Grandma. Steer clear,” one person wrote.
“I broke my son’s ankle doing this! The danger is real!” another added.
“This just happened to my little cousin, going down the slide with his dad,” a third said.
“Actually broke my leg at 2 with my dad,” someone else commented.
“Poor guy still feels guilty after 32 years!”
“Yep. A friend broke his little boys legs doing this,” another wrote.
But others insisted there’s an easy way to stop that from happening.
“I secure my baby’s arms so they don’t flail around or try grabbing the slide and slide down with my legs closed,” one wrote.
“Parents don’t need to be afraid to have fun with the babes just use common sense.”
“Well actual you’re supposed to cross legs or hold their legs that’s common sense,” another insisted.
As a third commented: “Don’t wanna be that person but like… would it be so hard to keep your legs together as you go down the slide and support your child’s legs to do the same?”
