I’m a dog expert – six dog breeds I’d never own and poodle is number one
WE are a nation of dog lovers, but we all have our favourite breeds.
One dog expert has shared the six breeds they’d steer clear of, and it’s bad news if you love poodles.
According to the pro, any type of hairless pooch is a big no-no for them.
There are loads of different hairless dog breeds, including Peruvian Inca Orchid, Abyssinian Sand Terrier and even hairless Chihuahua.
Any type of Chihuahua is actually a no for the dog expert, who put the breed at number five on their list.
The breed gets a bit of a bad reputation, but according to Dog Time they’re actually loving pets and great if you live in a flat.
They explained: “Besides being affectionate housemates, Chihuahuas are intelligent and fast learners.
“They can compete in agility and obedience trials with just as much enthusiasm and success as larger dogs.”
Two dog breeds get joint fourth place on the list – Terriers and Shih Tzu.
Although the breeds are very different, they do both make great family pets and make loyal companions.
Pugs and Bulldogs are also on the list for one reason – they’re squished faces.
“They have trouble breathing due to their snouts,” the pro said.
In second place are German Shepherds – although they’re loving and loyal dogs, they need more attention than a lot of owners can give them
The pro said: “While German Shepherds make great protective dogs, they’re not suitable as pets unless their owner trains them.”
Poodles and and kind of of poodle-mix take the top spot though, leaving many stunned.
Apparently, the breed is very height maintenance and can cost a fortune in grooming.
Not only that, but they can be very hyper pets, which doesn’t suit a lot of owners.
