5 Militants Killed in Pakistan’s Balochistan
A terrorist attack on the cantonment area in Zhob, Balochistan, resulted in the deaths of five terrorists early on Wednesday, according to an official.
According to Zhob District Commissioner (DC) Azeem Kakar, five terrorists were killed in a retaliatory fire when an unnamed group of outlaws attacked the cantonment, Dawn reported.
He added that five other civilians were hurt, and a woman was killed after getting caught in the gunfire. The officer said that the injured persons were shifted to Quetta Hospital.
According to DC Kakar, a passenger bus travelling from Dera Ismail Khan was also caught by gunfire.
He said all departments were on notice, and an operation was underway, adding that “nothing can be said about the number of attackers.”
Since a unilateral ending of a ceasefire between the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and the government of Pakistan last November, several provinces, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Panjab, have been attacked by the militants.
The first half of the current year saw a steady and frightening rise in terror and suicide attacks, according to a report published this month by the think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, which claimed the lives of 389 people across the country.
