Uzbek Special Envoy Meets Balkh Governor, Discusses Trade
Ismatulla Irgashev, the special representative of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, met with Mohammad Yusuf Wafa, the governor of Afghanistan’s Balkh province, discussing trade between the two countries on Tuesday, a statement said.
Irgashev called for increasing bilateral trade during the meeting since it would support the expansion of the economies of both countries, read the statement.
Uzbekistan’s envoy asked for a meeting with the officials of the de facto authorities to solve the existing issues about trade and transportation.
Mohammad Yusuf Wafa, the governor of Balkh, said that the de facto authorities want positive relationships with countries for economic growth.
A committee has been established to address issues in trade with neighbouring countries based on the de facto authority direction.
Earlier, Uzbekistan inaugurated a coordination office for the Trans-Afghanistan railway project in the capital city of Tashkent.
The trans-Afghanistan railway coordination office was established to facilitate project implementation between the countries.
According to the statement, this will promote regional connectivity and trade and accelerate economic development in the country and neighbouring nations.
The Trans-Afghan railway project runs through Afghanistan to link South Asia with Central Asia.
