I was on Love Island series one – now I’m a singer-songwriter and want to be a famous pop star, says Cally Jane Beech
SHE is best known for being on Love Island series one and giving birth to the show’s first-ever baby.
Now, eight years on, Cally Jane Beech has revealed her secret singing talent and hopes of becoming a world-famous pop star.
The 31-year-old has been working hard to make it as a singer-songwriter.
Despite suffering from two false starts after claims producers held her music hostage, Cally is going back in the studio next week to work on some new covers.
Cally Jane Beech, speaking at the shoot of Getting Lippy, presented by Slingo, said: “A couple of years ago I put out my first single and it got a really good response. Everyone was really supportive.
“But I went into it blind, trusted the wrong people and I got my music held from me.
“It was really difficult because I’d put my heart and soul into it.
“I lost a lot of confidence after it happened not just once, but twice. It was really disheartening.
“Next week, I’m going to reintroduce people to the fact I’m doing music again so I’ll do some covers I’ve chosen.
“I want to work on some old school songs to put out so that people can see this is the direction I want to go in.”
Cally’s from a performance background, having starred in ITV soap Heartbeat back in 2008.
She hasn’t ruled out returning to acting, but says she’s currently fully focused on her music career.
“I hate the term ‘influencer’ and the whole ‘influencer’ image,” admits Cally.
“I’m a born performer. I’ve always been in shows growing up.
“I really enjoyed acting when I was younger but I’ve never done acting lessons or anything like that. Heartbeat was my first job and they said I was a natural actress. That could be something maybe in the future, it’s not something I’d say no to.
“My goal would be to transition into music properly and do what I love and be able to do shows and performances. Not intimate gigs, I’m a performer so I want a stage show with 60 dancers.
“The real definition of a pop star is kind of my ultimate dream.”
Cally found love with SAS: Who Dares Wins recruit DJ O’Neal nine months ago.
After a whirlwind romance, She moved in with the father-of-two, who called her his “soulmate”.
Cally’s happiness comes after heartache following her relationship with her Love Island star ex Luis Morrison.
The pair dated on and off for two years after finishing fourth in the show back in 2015.
They first split just ten weeks after Vienna was born when Cally accused him of being unfaithful.
Cally celebrated her daughter Vienna’s sixth birthday earlier this year with a tea party.
Paying tribute to her daughter, whose dad is her Love Island star ex Luis Morrison, Cally said: “I’m so proud of the little lady you have become, just unconditional love, an unbreakable bond and my best friend always … sending love and light your way baby.”
