A PEST control expert has revealed the insects invading your home most likely to make you fall ill – and drop the property price.
The hygiene specialist identified the critters which pose the most danger not only to health but also wealth.
He posted an online guide titled “Top 10 Pests” highlighting potential problems ranging from “tiny termites to large rodents”.
Top of the list are ants, with Argentine ants singled out along with “the odorous house ant which reeks of rotten coconuts”.
Pest control expert Mark says: “Your only hope of getting rid of them is to find their colony and remove their queen.
“The odorous ant is particularly nasty as it often has many queens and therefore many colonies.”
Other causes for concern include bed bugs, bees, cockroaches and fleas.
He also says to beware of flies. fruit flies, rodents, termites and ticks.
He has warned: “Size does not matter – these invaders can spread disease, damage your home and destroy your peace of mind.”
He described how cockroaches “carry germs and breed at an alarmingly high rate”, fleas spread “diseases ranging from typhus to tapeworms” and fruit flies “exist in clouds hovering around your kitchen”.
The expert also cautions how termites “can destroy your entire house”, with their “primary choice of food” being wood – while mice can not only “nibble on your furniture” but also “attack you in your own home”.
Previous pest expert advice has included tips on how to rid your home of flies and to repel ant invasions.
Other recommendations have covered avoiding blood-sucking Tabanidae bites and sending away cockroaches.
Cheap and simple tricks to deter spiders, flies, mice and foxes have also been suggested, along with essential oils said to help banish moths from your homes and clothes.
