Drop in CPI boosts Wall Street, Dow Jones gains 86 points

NEW YORK, New York - A slightly lower-than-expected Consumer Price Index (CPI) reading triggered a new round of gains on Wall Street, and a sharp weakening of the U.S. dollar Wednesday.

The CPI gained 3 percent on an annualized basis last month, against expectations of a 3.1 percent increase. For the CPI the CPI was up just 0.20 percent, again below expectations.
