UK weather: Met Office reveals when sunshine and warm temperatures will return
THE Met Office has revealed when sunshine and warm temperatures will return for the UK.
As heavy downpour and strong winds battered the country over the weekend it left many questioning when summer would return.
And as much of Europe continues to battle intense heat, with some parts hitting temperatures higher than 40C, Brits have been dealing with gloomy conditions.
Whilst this week isn’t set to be much better, The Met Office has said as we head towards August the weather should become more settled.
With the UK expecting to see less rainfall and lighter winds, it will naturally start to feel warmer.
However, temperatures will remain average for that time of year.
The weather service said: “The likelihood of showers may decrease towards the middle of the month, as more settled conditions become somewhat more probable.
“Temperatures are generally expected to be around average for the time of year, with spells of very warm or hot conditions being less likely than usual.”
But conditions aren’t set to clear up just yet.
Tuesday will start off quite rainy for some before they ease off this afternoon and into the night.
Met Office Meterologist Aidan McGivern said sunshine will build throughout the day – but low pressure will still push showers into Northern Ireland, north west England, south west, Scotland and Wales.
By 4pm today, the Midlands could reach highs of 18C while the south hits 23C.
Temperatures are not expected to exceed 12C tonight.
Strong winds will still be felt in the north of Scotland with cloud building in the west.
Wednesday is forecast to start off warm before rainy spells creep back in.
Mr McGivern added: “Here we’ve got some sunny spells and also some sunny spells across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
“The driest and brightest conditions likely towards the south west so parts of west Wales, Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset and Kent as well as Sussex.
“But elsewhere across the country I think those showers will just about affect anyone.
“In between there will be some brighter weather but it will be a slightly cooler day compared with Tuesday.”
The south will reach low 20s with the north hitting temperatures in the high teens.
Thursday and Friday will also bring sunny spells and showers with “more unsettled weather” for the weekend.
