Woman’s ‘newspaper method’ keeps your home tidy while you do nothing – and it’s dead cheap too
A CLEANING fan has revealed the clever hack she uses to effortlessly keep hard-to-reach parts of her kitchen free of dirt.
The woman, called Jessica, demonstrated her ‘newspaper method’ in a video shared to TikTok.
The post, titled ‘three kitchen hacks you will love’, begins by taking viewers through two other cleaning tips.
These are using baby oil to keep stainless steel surfaces shiny, and adding scented cotton balls to the bottom of the bin.
However, Jessica’s third idea is particularly one that requires you to put in zero elbow grease.
She advises: “Line tall shelving with newspaper to collect dust and stop grease building up.”

The woman shows in the clip how she takes old newspaper copies and places them on top of her upper kitchen cabinets.
This is an area that can collect a lot of dust and grease, given the proximity to cooking, but that you may not have thought to clean before.
However, these surfaces are hard-to-reach and keep clean in the usual way, as demonstrated by Jessica needing to stand on a stool.
This hack means that you can leave the newspapers tucked neatly away and forget about them – before eventually replacing them with fresh copies.
The video, which has received more than 44,000 ‘likes’, garnered much praise from fellow social media users.
One person wrote: “The top shelf covers a must, amazing how dirty they get.”
Another commented: “Love this!”
A third shared: “Amazing tips thank you.”
And a fourth added: “Definitely saving these hacks!”
