I ordered a £500 laptop on Amazon… but when I opened the parcel I was amazed by what was inside
A MAN was left stunned after ordering a £500 laptop on Amazon only to find something completely different inside.
Adam Yearsley, from Trafford, Manchester, decided to treat himself and ordered the sleek laptop from the popular online retailer last week.
But after receiving the package, the 40-year-old was shocked to see two boxes of Weetabix instead.
Adam told MEN: “I use Amazon all the time, I’ve never had an issue before.
“I thought I would treat myself to a new computer. I ordered it, paid £500 for it and a couple of days later it was delivered.
“When I got the parcel I did think this feels a bit light to be a laptop.”
He continued: “I thought, well, I trust this company, maybe laptops are more lightweight nowadays.
“When I opened the parcel it was two packets of Weetabix, a 24-pack and a 12-pack, sellotaped together in the shape of a laptop.”
The shocked customer added that the box appeared to have been “tampered with” before he opened it.
Fearing he had been the victim of a scam, Adam reported the incident to cops.
Adam said: “I’ve been quite distressed over it, I don’t know how it’s happened.”
The stunned customer says he has since re-ordered from another seller.
Amazon said it has been in touch with the customer to apologise and offer a full refund.
A spokesperson said: “This has been resolved. We’ve contacted the customer directly, apologised, and refunded in full.”
Adam, who works as a carer, said he was able to take the saga in good humour once his refund was secured.
“People in work have been having a laugh with me”, he said.
He told how one of the residents he cares for had joked they had been keeping well by “eating lots of Weetabix”.
It comes after another Amazon shopper was stunned when he bought a £569 iPad and a driver delivered a £1 packet of Cadbury cookies instead.
Carl, 43, thought the package felt light when he took it inside and as he opened it he found the packet of biscuits rather than a tablet
Meanwhile one woman who received 150 Amazon packages on her doorstep by mistake revealed the heartwarming thing she did next.
