Town hires contractor
for road repair work
The Town Council has approved an agreement with Ghilotti Bros. Inc. of San Rafael for road improvements.
The $732,335 agreement will pay for work on Scenic Road and Porteous Avenue. The project includes paving, curb and gutter repair, curb ramps and drainage near Wood Lane.
The town decided to delay additional work on Claus Drive, which would have driven up the cost another $222,000.
TIBURON
Home construction
proposed at 3 sites
The Design Review Board has scheduled hearings on proposals to demolish three homes and construct new ones.
The plans call for building a 2,622-square-foot home with an attached garage at 283 Cecilia Way; a 4,400-square-foot home with an attached garage at 1807 Lagoon View Drive; and a 4,318-square-foot home with an attached garage at 1 Acacia Drive.
The Lagoon View Drive project has generated neighborhood complaints about the scale, the potential effect on views and privacy and the prospect of prolonged clamor.
“The residents of Lagoon View Drive have endured three plus years of jackhammering, traffic disruption, constant construction noise, unsightly fencing, and multiple parked cars during the construction of 1830 Lagoon View Drive,” residents Al Goduti and Cheryl Woodford wrote in a letter to the board on Monday.
“That project has reduced the quality of day to day life in the neighborhood for several years. The prospect of another multiyear project is unsettling to say the least, and we ask that you instruct the owner make every effort to reduce the above stated nuisances to our neighborhood to the greatest extent possible,” the letter said.
The board meeting is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall. Project details and teleconference access instructions are available at shorturl.at/ehoHL.

DA’s office files case
in Hamilton slaying
The Marin County District Attorney’s Office filed charges Tuesday in connection with a homicide in the Hamilton neighborhood.
Paul Henry Dwight, 65, is charged with murder and cruelty to an animal. Novato police booked him on suspicion of those crimes after he allegedly shot his housemate and his housemate’s dog to death Friday afternoon at their residence in the Lanham Village complex.
The housemate was Ray Allen Mays, 47. Police allege the shooting happened during a dispute over housing arrangements.
Dwight’s arraignment is pending. He is being held without a bail amount at the Marin County Jail.
Suspect accused of
attack at residence
A San Rafael man arrested in a gun theft investigation less than two months ago has been arrested again in a relationship violence case in Novato.
Novato police booked Diontae Sol Burton, 18, on Sunday on suspicion of kidnapping, burglary, battery, vandalism and other counts. Authorities allege he attacked a woman and damaged a window at a residence in the 1800 block of Novato Boulevard. His bail amount was set at $100,000.
The woman did not require immediate hospital treatment.
On Monday, the Marin County District Attorney’s Office filed misdemeanor charges of aggravated trespassing, vandalism, battery and false imprisonment. Burton remained in custody Tuesday.
Burton was arrested in late May on suspicion of possessing a Glock 34 pistol that had been reported stolen from a San Rafael residence in January. His bail amount was set at $100,000, and he was able to secure his release. Prosecutors filed a felony case against him on May 26.
