Sports Briefs: Twin Cities LL to take another swing at title
The Twin Cities 9-10s received their first shot to wrap up the NorCal Section 1 Little League All-Star title on Tuesday night but were unable to cash in, falling 3-2 against host Lafayette.
Twin Cities, which had gone unbeaten throughout the postseason up until Tuesday, will get another chance to claim the crown in a winner-takes-all game against Lafayette on Wednesday.
Twin Cities (11-1) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when Rho Atkins singled to score Wyatt Schaefer. Lafayette scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Twin Cities put together a sixth-inning rally with back-to-back-to-back singles by Jack Meyers, Rho Atkins and Danny Searle to pull within 3-2.
Schaefer also had a pair of hits for Twin Cities, which outhit Lafayette 8-6 for the game.
Cycling
Cyclists will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee Marin Century on August 5. Marin cyclists have been staging the Marin Century for 60 years, making it one of the longest, continuously running cycling events of its kind in the USA. The ride will start at Stafford Lake State Park, in Novato. From there, riders can choose to navigate the summit of Mt. Tamalpais, at 2,500 feet of elevation, or ride through rolling foothills of the nearby mountains, or finally, cyclists can choose to breeze along the nearby coastal waters of picturesque Tomales Bay.
