The 17-year-old is rated highly by many at the club – and Red Devils fans are hopeful he could be the next big thing.

One of the Old Trafford faithful tweeted: “A brilliant modern-day goalkeeper with amazing distribution and on the ball also a sweeper keeper and a great shot-stopper.”

Another said: “Hopefully he grows a bit. Then we have a top talent on our hands.”

And another said: ” This guy is the real deal. Huge 1vs1. Brilliant with his feet.

“Great command of his area. Ability to pull off the unbelievable. Top talent.”

One remarked: ” In my time watching academy football I’ve never been as excited about a GK prospect like I am by Elyh Harrison.

“Seems to have everything needed to be an ETH goalie re: on the ball, and is an above-average shot-stopper.

“Excited by his 1st team squad inclusion, sky’s the limit.”

Another chimed in: “Harrison is a huge talent that we need to think about in terms of squad building for the next 5 years.”

One excited Red Devil said: “Tomorrow we introduce you the world Remember the name, Elyh Harrison.”

Tom Heaton – who is understood to be on the radar of Premier League new boys Luton Town – hasn’t been included in the squad.

The 37-year-old is expected to leave Old Trafford in the coming weeks – despite the departure of David de Gea and Dean Henderson‘s seemingly-imminent exit.

United’s clash with Lyon will be their first after tying striker Marcus Rashford down to a new bumper five-year deal – which has made him the club’s highest-paid player.

The 25-year-old said: “I joined Manchester United as a seven-year-old boy with a dream.

“That same passion, pride, and determination to succeed still drives me every time I have the honour of wearing the shirt.

“I’ve already had some amazing experiences at this incredible club, but there is still a lot more to achieve and I remain relentlessly determined to win more trophies in the years ahead.”
