Ferne McCann reveals meaning behind daughter Sunday’s name after welcoming baby girl
FERNE McCann has revealed the meaning behind her oldest daughter Sunday’s name.
The former Towie star, 32, and fiancé Lorri Haines welcomed baby girl Finty this week.
Ferne took to Instagram to thank fans for their messages of congratulations and also addressed comments surrounding her youngest’s unusual name.
She said: “Thank you so much for all of your lovely comments.
“The name… I knew it was going to split some hairs but I just think if you go for a popular name, an unusual name – whatever name you go for – there’s always going to be people that won’t like it.”
Ferne then addressed daughter Sunday, five. She said: “Also, let’s face it, I couldn’t have gone for a bog standard name.
“It had to go with Sunday. I named my daughter after a day of the week – the best day. Wednesday could have been a vibe…”
Ferne shares Sunday with ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins.
Explaining how the couple picked the name for her newborn, Ferne told OK! Magazine: “It was on my name list when I gave birth to Sunday.
“I don’t know where I got it from, but when I typed it in [on Google] I saw Judi Dench’s daughter’s nickname is Finty.
“I’ve always loved it and never heard it anywhere else before.
“I just feel so connected to the name – she came out and she was just Finty.
“I think she sounds like a character out of Bridgerton.”
Ferne, who didn’t find out the sex until she gave birth, continued: “Francis is my grandad’s name – it’s a nod to Grandad Frank.”
