Pedestrian suffers serious head injury in Torrington crash

A pedestrian suffered a serious head injury after he was struck by a motor vehicle in Torrington late Tuesday.

Officers at about 10:12 p.m. responded to the area of Winsted Road, south of Kennedy Drive, on the report of a pedestrian being struck, according to the Torrington Police Department.

Police said they found a 34-year-old Torrington man lying in the road suffering from a serious head injury. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

The driver, a 33-year-old Winsted man, did not report any injuries and was cooperative with investigators, according to police.

Police believe the Winsted man was driving a 2009 Ford Focus north on Winsted Road when he collided with the pedestrian as he was walking north in the northbound lane.

No charges have been filed, as the crash is still under investigation, police said.
